Faces of Change - Women Edition
It’s empowering to
know, especially at this
particular moment in time, that we
have a choice to “show up” to help our communities, to give ourselves different words, words that help us both imagine and make real a healthier collective narrative, demonstrating that we can
be the change. To celebrate these Faces of Change, these amazing women of the IE Community were invited to share their stories of impact with their younger selves and with all of us. They have grown, learned and embraced being part of the Chain of Change. |

IE taking part in Earth Hour 2021
Earth Hour is one of the world’s largest movements for our planets. Organized by the World Wildlife Fund, millions of people around the world will switch off their lights to show they care about the future of our planet - our shared home - this Saturday, March 27th, from 8:30-9:30PM. IE will join Earth Hour by shutting off all the University lights, reminding us that even small actions can make a big difference. When we make changes in our own lives, and when we share that with others, we also inspire the people around us to change - and we help grow a movement of climate and nature activism. It all starts with a single switch. Will you join the movement too, and lead by example as a member of the IE Community?

IE Center for Sustainable Cities and RENAZCA
RENAZCA, formed by companies that own buildings in the superblock area of Madrid known as AZCA, has selected a design team to lead the transformation and renewal of this central but deteriorated part of the city. The new ideas foster the area’s urban, economic and social revitalization. The team was chosen after a two-phased competition to renew this public space with the support of the private sector. The selection process was designed and facilitated by the IE Center for Sustainable Cities led by Dean Martha Thorne and Director of the Bachelor in Design, Edgar González. RENAZCA will set a new benchmark for the city of the future, emphasizing the role of sustainability, accessibility, and green open space. RENAZCA will create a biodiverse urban ecosystem, featuring native plants and a dynamic water feature that recalls old river channels that once crossed through the site. A rainwater catchment and storage system will irrigate the verdant landscapes and regulate a sustainably-designed water feature. See here for more information. |
