Call for Proposals

Do you have a great idea for a sustainability-related initiative? Something that is by our community, for our community?

Please join our next Sustainability Board meeting on June 29th, 14:00 - 15:30 to hear the latest proposals or to present your idea! Register  here, add to calendar and access the Zoom link. Approved proposals will be funded up to 1.000€ (depending on evaluation, budget and feasibility). To submit a proposal, see HERE. Anyone from across the entire IE community is welcome to join for these quarterly meetings as well as to present sustainability proposals.

Nurturing Trees and Cleanup: Environmental Awareness Excursion

The IE Well-Being and Happiness Center organised 2 day-trips to the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park and the Southeast Regional Park to learn about the waste problems these two areas are currently facing, the danger of microplastics and how to correctly collect them.

Lunch Out of the Box

The IE Bachelor’s in Business Administration program is delighted to announce that it has  relaunched its “Lunch Out of the Box” sessions to engage in conversations that promote sustainable policies and values.  Rebecca Taylor, an IE alumni working for the US Environmental Protection Agency as Marketing and Communications Manager at the Green Power Partnership spoke at the last session. During this insightful talk, students had the opportunity to ask questions about communication around sustainability topics, and the challenges they may face when negotiating with corporations.

Madrid - Brussels by bike: IE Graduate Giorgio Fouarge

After living for five years in Madrid, recent IE graduate Giorgio Fourage will be returning to his home city of Brussels by bike. His goal is to cycle the 1700 kilometers in early June to raise funds and awareness for the Bike for Kivu project which aims to improve the daily lives of the people living in the Kivu region of the Congo. Thanks to IE University, and the support of the IE Foundation, the project will reach a range of individuals in our university community, Spain, and hopefully throughout Europe. Engaging in a purposeful adventure has long been a dream of Giorgio’s. STEMTalentGirl Activities

During the month of May, the STEMTalentGirl group from the ASTI Foundation, which collaborates with the IE DEI Project, held activities ranging from design thinking to artificial intelligence. See the recordings here. 

IE Girl Up Club Writing Contest:

The IE Girl Up Club has organized a writing competition that aims to reach teenagers all around Spain, with sponsorship by Casa del Libro. Submissions will be accepted until the 10th of June and will raise awareness about sustainability and gender issues. Click HERE to learn more and follow the club on Instragram.

Alumni Taking the Lead: Rebeca Ávila - Executive MBA 2007

Rebeca is currently the Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Communication at the multinational hotel company Accor. She is committed to social issues, especially those that concern women, continually working to give them a voice. At Accor, Rebeca oversaw and helped develop an action plan for their hotels with measures to promote sustainable development, tailored to the hotel context. One issue that is fundamental to the company’s priorities is to offer only healthy and sustainable food, with a ban on food waste. For more about Rebeca see here.

Dance for a Cause

Join us to relive the experience of bridging the gap between climate science and people! On May 14th, IE SDG Club, IE Dance Club and IE Music Club hosted a social impact performance that sought to address SDG 14 (Life below Water) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Dancers, musicians, poets and photographers gathered to co-create the stage. It was an opportunity to reconnect with our community and become aware of the steps we must take to address biodiversity loss. Watch the full video HERE and read the article HERE.

2020 EFMD Case Writing Competition

The case, “Mosabi. Gathering forces for Social Change,”  focuses on financial education and overall financial inclusion for African entrepreneurs in the informal business sector. “Proyecto AMBAR” will take place on Zoom throughout June:

“Proyecto AMBAR”, or the Amber Project, promotes the employment of transgender people. Employees can be mentors and run workshops, talks and guidance on career development.
